2009/10 was a great season, with our highest finish in the league since 2005/06. As the planning for 10/11 begins, no end of season would be complete without some cheesy love-in style awards, so here are this season’s winners:
PLAYERS' PLAYER OF THE SEASON
1st: CHRIS PALMER
Palmer collects his first award from Will Young
"He probably wasn't expecting to play most of the season in a wide left position but always put in a great effort and was full of endless running. Scored a few corkers too!"
2nd: CHRIS PEACOCK
Jim enjoyed the feel of P's suspicious shorts bulge on his leg...i'm guessing it's not his golden boot trophy stuffed down his pants
"He transformed the performance of the team when he got a run in the side through his goals, coupled with a great work rate."
3rd: ROB DAY
Jamie Carragher drops by to collect his accolade
"Rob is supremely consistent, versatile, and always stands out in the games against the top teams. His form towards the end of the season was nothing short of outstanding."
CLUB MAN OF THE SEASON:
Magic dressed up for this proud moment
"A true club hero, Magic was always ready to put in a shift all season, whether it was on the pitch, on the touchline or in Brighton. A valuable member of the squad and a true team player."
MANAGER'S PLAYER OF THE SEASON:
Palmer gets ready to do one after breaking the news of his summer departure
"Relentless effort from Global's own Carlos Tevez. 100% effort throughout every game, along with 17 goals and a number of assists have made Palmer one of the first name's on the teamsheet."
THE DAVE CARRASCO SPASTIC / MOST IMPROVED PLAYER OF THE SEASON:
It's something about the name Dave
"Taking over from Greeny was always going to be a huge task, but Dave responded with a string of fine, consistent and sometimes match winning displays, especially during the second half of the season."
GLOBAL GOLDEN BOOT:
P's trouser tent subsided as Jim disappointingly kept his distance
"Looking at the stats is it right that he got only 2 goals last season?! Superb effort throughout the season, and deserved every goal. But ditch the stupid headband!"
GOAL OF THE SEASON:
CHRIS PEACOCK v St Albans Wanderers
Another award heading straight towards further boosting P's massive ego
"Good play down the right hand side opened up space for Day to deliver a cross. From nowhere, Peacock emereged through a pile of bodies to meet the ball with a thumping header"
